The primary responsibility of the Membership Connections Committee is facilitating strategic and operational input from girls and volunteers to the Board. The role of MCC is to connect the members of Girl Scouts of Alaska with its decision-makers, the Board of Directors, and senior staff. As the centerpiece of GSAK's democratic process, the MCC includes membership from across Alaska. The MCC meets about once a quarter for about 1.5 hours each meeting. The committee occasionally meets 1-2 times more if needed.
MCC acts as a conduit between GSAK membership and the Board of Directors and senior staff by accepting questions and input from members, passing on appropriate information, receiving reports from GSAK, and, most importantly, sharing information with the membership. Lastly, MCC shares insight from the membership to the Board of Directors. Our goal is to ensure that all volunteers have a proactive role in influencing the direction of Girl Scouting in Alaska.
Girl Scouts of Alaska (GSAK) is one of 111 councils nationwide chartered by Girl Scouts of the United States of America (GSUSA). As part of GSUSA, the largest organization for girls in the world, Girl Scouts of Alaska develops strength of character and self-confidence in girls, allowing them to become leaders in their communities and to make a difference in the world. Building on the traditional values of the Girl Scout movement, we meet the needs of girls in Alaska today.
