Hello Girl Scouts!
I hope your summer has been full of fun, camping, fishing, biking, or whatever else makes you happy! I hate to say it, but the fireweed blooming tells me we’re heading down to the last part of our glorious summer.
We’ve been having a great camp season, and we are adding more dates and times. We’ve been able to add new communities to the camp list—Ketchikan, Petersburg, Wrangell, Kodiak, and Bethel and more dates and times at Camp Singing Hills in Chugiak—we have buses. Thank you to all the families who have been flexible this summer as we worked around using different camp sites and COVID protocols. Our camp staff has done an amazing job juggling it all.
As we head into fall, we are thinking about and planning for Fall Recruitment and getting back to “normal” with kids in school and the ability to meet more freely. We’re hoping the state vaccination rates continue to climb and that our infection rates fall so we can continue to gather safely.
As a part of our fall campaign for membership, we are still offering free memberships to all new or returning members until September 30, 2021. What a great deal! If you haven’t gotten your girl signed up yet for next year, it’s a great time to join.
We are also planning a fun Fall Product season starting in September. Stay tuned for more info next month.
I’ll keep this month’s column short so you can enjoy the summer and spend some extra time watching the Olympics. I don’t know about you, but I was so proud of our hometown girl from Seward—swimmer Lydia Jacoby. She is definitely a bright spot for all of us and the full embodiment of Girl Power!
Thank you for all you do!
