CEO Corner: Gearing up for cookies, winter celebrations

CEO Corner

We’re less than one month away from winter solstice! I don’t know about you, but once we turn that corner on the 21st, I get excited to see the light returning. It also signals to me my favorite program of the year is coming soon—cookies!

I’m so proud of all the girls who participated in MagNuts (Fall Product). My Madagascar nuts and chocolates are trickling in. My mom was very excited about her “People Magazine” subscription. Thanks to all the parents and volunteers who helped the girls meet their goals. And, just like MagNuts, remember that I buy at least one box of cookies from every girl that asks me. I am still finishing a few boxes of frozen Thin Mints, but I am confident I’ll be ready for a new supply in March!

As we get ready for the Girl Scout Cookie Program, make sure you’ve marked on your calendar for the different pieces of training. We have special meetings for Seasoned Leaders/Cookie Volunteers and two sessions for New Leaders/Cookie Volunteers—Part 1 on December 8 and Part 2 on December 15. If you can’t make training, we always record them, and we’re here to answer any questions you have at customercare@girlscoutsalaska.org.

We’re planning virtual and Anchorage in-person cookie rallies this year. The girls will learn about goal setting, finances, how to make a video for online sales, and so much more. We promise the focus will be on fun, too!

I’m always so thankful for all the volunteers, caregivers, and Girl Scouts for the energy and love you put into helping our girls grow and thrive. The end of the year is a great time to reflect back on all you’ve accomplished for girls. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you do.

We’ll be closed for the week from December 24-January 2, so if you need anything from us holler before those dates or we’ll see you in the New Year. Have a safe and happy holiday season!
