As I write this column, it is below zero outside, and the sun is just rising. We are less than a month away from Solstice and the light returning! This means we’re headed into that favorite season—cookies! We’re getting ready for cookies here at the council office, and we’re excited about this year’s program.
While we contemplate cookies, I’m also very happy with all the Fall Product I’ve been getting. My friends, family, and neighbors are going to be so excited with the goodies I have for them. I’ll admit I’ve also been munching on my favorites, the Madagascar almonds. Remember, I buy one item from every girl that sends me her link for Fall Product or cookies, so keep me in mind for January!
We’ve been working to secure many of your favorite booth locations from last year, and we have some wonderful news – Fred Meyer will be a booth location again this year.
We know troops love selling there and we’re excited to get those solidified. As with all booths in the booth finder, we will do all the legwork to get the shifts put in—you won’t have to do any of that work. More on booths later!
We’ll be doing a lot of trainings for cookies, and you can get signed up for the ones you need. We’ll be loading a lot more information on the cookie website over the next few weeks, so keep checking back.
We’re planning an in-person cookie rally in Anchorage and a virtual cookie rally for everyone. We’ll be reaching out to service units and communities to offer up some supplies and activity ideas if you’d like to do a cookie rally in your community.
We hear over and over from volunteers that they aren’t always getting our messages—we’re all busy and we are inundated with information. We’d like to be able to text participating troops and Individually Registered Girls during cookie season to keep you up-to-date on a timely basis. However, due to federal laws, we have to have your permission to text more than one person at a time. If you are planning to sell cookies, please sign up to allow us to text you relevant information in real time. We promise not to spam you! You can sign up to allow us to contact you using this form.
As we head into the holiday season, I’m reminded daily how thankful we are for all of you who do so much for our Girl Scouts. We appreciate everything you do, and we can’t wait to see you at the rallies, on the screen, and in person in the New Year.
Thank you for all you do!
Yours in Girl Scouting,
