CEO Corner: Early Bird, Encampment, camp, cookies

CEO Leslie Ridle stands with a Brownie selling cookies outside a shop in downtown Anchorage.

Cookie season is (almost) over and everyone did a great job! Thank you for all the work you do to help girls learn about starting and running a business. This year, they got a real look at what supply chain issues are, and they powered through them. I hope everyone had fun and the girls learned and grew through the experience.

We have already been doing a lot of planning around Early Bird registration. Early Bird is an excellent time to sign up your troops for the next membership year before summer hits and everyone scatters for the break. This makes starting up easier next year.

We are expecting some big news soon about a fun event for girls to participate in to celebrate their Early Bird registration. Watch for details on that soon!

The best news we have this year is that we are doing Encampment for the first time in three years. We heard from you that you wanted it to be a little shorter and to focus on the outdoors, so our teams have been making plans for a fun weekend June 3-5. You can learn more about Encampment 2022 HERE. We hope to see you all there!

The other best news is that we are having camp at Camp Togowoods (sleepaway camp) and Camp Singing Hills (day camp). We can’t wait to welcome girls back to the wonderful world of camp. We’re also scheduling our day camps in other areas of the state—Juneau, Kodiak, Homer, Ketchikan, and more, so keep a watch on our camp website for all information about camp. Register early to ensure a spot is saved for your girl! We’re having several Camp Information Nights where you can Zoom in and ask any burning question you have. You can sign up for a session that works for you HERE. We always record these sessions, so you can watch them whenever it’s convenient for you.

We are bringing back Helping Hands Day at Camp Togowoods to help get our camp back in shipshape to welcome back girls. If you want to help out, please sign up so we know how many to prepare for. We’re also having camp open houses at Camp Singing Hills and Camp Togowoods so you and your girl can check out camp and what it’s all about.

We know girls are anxious to use their cookie credits at camp this year, and we want to help you figure out how to use them. You can find information about camperships (financial aid) and cookie credits HERE. If you have any questions about cookie credits or how many your girl has, shoot us an email at customercare@girlscoutsalaska.org.

We’re excited for spring and seeing more girls in real life this summer. Thanks for all you do—please reach out if there’s anything you need from us at 907-248-2250 or customercare@girlscoutsalaska.org.
