CEO Corner: Fall Product and Recruitment, Camp

CEO Corner

Hello Girl Scouts!

What a summer we’ve had! We are a little more than halfway through and it’s been amazing. We’ve had some great camp sessions, and it’s been great seeing the girls back at Camps Togowoods and Singing Hills. We’ve started our travel camps and have been to Juneau, Prince of Wales, Wrangell, Metlakatla, Ketchikan, Angoon, and Haines, and we’re headed to Gustavus, Hoonah, Petersburg, Skagway, Sitka, Homer, and Kodiak. Even with that fun schedule, we’re not back to full speed yet, and we hope to add even more camp sessions next summer. You can check out the camp schedule for the rest of the summer on our website.

It’s not fall yet, but we’re already planning ahead. We are reaching out to schools and other organizations to set up recruitment sessions to get girls back into Girl Scouts. Our membership is growing as more and more girls are able to get together. To help troops get together easier, we have free COVID tests available for your use. We got a generous, free supply from the State of Alaska, and we’d like to pass them on to you, your families, or your troops to use. If you’d like a supply of tests for get-togethers, please drop us a note and we’ll either have them for you at our office or we’ll put them in the mail. We have quite a few, so ask for what you need—don’t be shy.

We’ve spent some time this summer taste-testing the new Fall Product as we get ready for that season. There are a few yummy new items and some fun rewards. This year’s mascot is the Hawaiian monk seal and she’s cute! The girls will really love learning about her life cycle and how and where she lives.

Summer is short, so I’ll keep this column short, too, so you can go back to having summer fun. Please keep in touch if there’s anything you need from us.

Thanks for all you do for Alaska’s girls!
