It must be fall soon—I can feel the crisp in the air in the mornings. This means one of my favorite times of year is here—back to school, troop activities, and Fall Product season!
We had a fabulous summer. We were able to have a more “normal” camp season (with a few COVID bumps along the way), and girls got the chance to be outdoors and be with other girls. We were glad to be able to do more travel camps than last year, and we’re holding out a lot of optimism to do even more next summer.
Speaking of next summer—it’s not too early for your troop to start planning to attend the 2023 National Council Session and PHENOM—a fun-filled extravaganza with 1000s of other Girl Scouts. Girls, troops, and families can attend the 3-day PHENOM in Orlando, Florida, July 20-22. We had a Q&A session about PHENOM that you can watch here. Troop Leader and volunteer extraordinaire, Anne Kurland, wrote a personal article about what it’s like to attend PHENOM. She’s attended several times in the past and she will tell you it was an amazing experience. Read Anne’s personal account about past National Council sessions here. If your troop wants to go to PHENOM, how do you do it? Selling Fall Product and cookies are great ways to get started. We’ve incorporated travel credits into both programs this year.
This year’s Fall Product theme is “Go Bright Ahead” and it features the Hawaiian Monk Seal as a mascot. All proceeds raised stay within Alaska to pay for girl programs, including funds troops use to plan activities, projects, and adventures. It is a great way to get your troop some funds to start your new school year. The fall program is easy—purchases are made online and can be shipped directly to the customer’s house. Girls can also deliver products if they choose. If you have any questions about Fall Product, shoot Abigail a note at customercare@girlscoutsalaska.org. She’s glad to help you out.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. I buy one Fall Product from every girl who sends me her link. My favorites are the Madagascar almonds, and I’ve eaten through my personal supply. I also buy peanuts for my sweet mom, so send me your links!
Have a great fall and enjoy getting back to school. We have a lot of programs we’ll be posting, so keep an eye on our events page for updates.
Thanks for all you do for girls in Alaska.
