The Glitter, Gala, and Governance workshop is a girl-led event happening Saturday, November 22 at the Polaris gym in Anchorage. Designed and hosted by Troop 436, the workshop combines creativity, fun, and civic engagement in one exciting day.
Participants will rotate through booths to:
Get their face painted with biodegradable glitter
Take a glitter-themed photo and make a picture frame
Create a glitter necklace
Learn about biodegradable glitter and sustainability
Write a postcard to a school board member
Play bingo to earn a BioGlitter patch!
At 11:30 a.m., girls will enjoy a snack before attending a youth-led panel discussion on leadership and civic engagement with special guest speakers.
To cap off the experience, all Girl Scouts who attend are invited to attend the January 6 Anchorage School Board meeting and wear their uniforms to show the power of youth leadership. Girls who attend the meeting will receive the Governance badge.
This event is about more than glitter—it’s about showing that girls can lead, advocate, and create change in their communities.
